Some guys have great buddies. Last week I found some super cast iron kettles online. As it happens, the store that carries these is headquartered in North Carolina, not far from where I'll be visiting next month.
I mentioned to my friend that I would like to stop in at that store and maybe pick up an eight gallon pot and a larger one - maybe either a 13 or an 18 gallon one.
Two days later my buddy sent this picture and said he had gone ahead and picked up the eight gallon one for me, along with a burner, so we can make some chili when I get there.
He thinks I should look at the others when I get down because they're really, really big and he wonders how I can possibly ever need even the full eight gallon cauldron.
Pretty cool buddy, eh?
And, bonus... that same place has a barrel smoker that will fit perfectly in my palace.
Serendipity? Oh, yeah!
